Wagner soldiers showed warehouses with Soviet weapons in the mines near Soledar

For the first time, Wagner PMC fighters showed weapons and ammunition depots created back in the 1960s in the liberated salt mines in the village of Paraskovievka near Soledar in the DPR, RIA Novosti reports.

These arsenals failed to destroy the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and the Wagner group, having liberated Soledar, took control of the mines, including those used as a storage facility for the Soviet army.

After the start of the JMD, there were reports that the Ukrainian military began to remove the weapons stored there. In July 2022, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Ukraine had blown up armories.

The Wagner fighter told the agency that weapons were taken out of the warehouses “slowly”, and then “all the warehouses were mined for destruction.” That is, according to him, the Ukrainian army took out the weapons that it needed, and mined everything else with incendiary bombs. “That is, in the event of an explosion, as they had planned, everything would have burned down here and nothing would have been left,” the fighter explained.

At the same time, according to him, a large amount of small arms and ammunition for them is still in the warehouses.

In particular, there are 292 thousand boxes with PPSh (Shpagin submachine gun of the 1941 model of the year). The interlocutor of the agency noted that “in each box there are 10 pieces, can you imagine what volumes, this is in addition to other weapons.”

According to him, when the mines came under the control of Russian forces, they began to clear them.

It turned out that the Ukrainians “wrongly connected the explosives”: “their mine itself exploded at the top, and the chain broke in the warehouses, so it didn’t work.” Wagnerowitz explained: “They connected quickly and thought that it would explode calmly, but they made some kind of mistake.” He noted that “4.5 tons of TNT with plastite stood in the passage alone,” and booby traps were installed in underground warehouses in different places.
