Vyacheslav Volodin named those responsible for egg prices in the State Duma

Deputies Gutenev, Topilin and Kashin “all three will answer”

The State Duma completed its autumn session on Friday. At the final meeting, Vyacheslav Volodin reminded his colleagues in the chamber that “holidays are not for deputies.” He wished the Duma members a good mood, happiness and health, and warned Gutenev, Topilin and Kashin: if the problem with egg prices is not solved, all three will answer. “Nothing personal,” noted the State Duma speaker.

In the past year, the lower house worked hard and adopted 694 laws, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin calculated.

But it is unlikely that the people’s representatives will be able to relax even after today, the final and greatly shortened meeting of the autumn session. Already today, Friday evening, the faction leaders are scheduled to meet with Vladimir Putin. The two weeks before the New Year also promise to be busy for the deputies: they will travel to the regions and work with voters.

After the New Year, the chamber will begin work on January 9, and the first plenary meeting of the spring session of 2024 should take place on January 16.

Vyacheslav Volodin advised the Duma members not to relax. “Holidays are not for deputies,” the speaker noted.

– This is already becoming the norm. We see it by the number of people leaving and we see it by how the work is going. There must be a lot of work, and we must be more efficient,” called on the chairman of the lower house.

The three parliamentarians certainly won’t have time to rest. Vladimir Gutenev (United Russia), Maxim Topilin (United Russia) and Vladimir Kashin (Communist Party of the Russian Federation) are now almost responsible for egg prices. After Vladimir Putin spoke yesterday about the situation with the galloping rise in prices for the indispensable ingredient of Olivier salad, the Duma members could no longer escape.

– Let’s agree that three specialized committees are responsible for issues of prices and the cost of the consumer basket. Therefore, if only a situation arises in the consumer market, prices are rising, it’s nothing personal, colleagues, all three will answer. Are your eggs okay? This means that people should have it too. “We will make a decision,” Volodin harshly reprimanded the leaders of the State Duma committees on industry and trade, economic policy and agrarian issues.

Volodin warned his colleagues against thinking that China is better than ours.

– Sometimes they talk about the experience of China. My colleagues and I, while in China, went and saw how a primary school worked. Meals are paid for children, but ours is free for elementary schools. And this despite the fact that today China is the first economy in the world,” Volodin said and added that high school in China is entirely paid, but ours is free. You cannot get higher education in the Middle Kingdom for free, but here you can study at the expense of the treasury or for a fee.

– When we want to follow someone’s example, we must proceed from the fact that we have our own history, our own traditions, culture, values, our own faith. We must build our development path on this basis, borrowing all the best, but maintaining our foundation and rejecting all the worst. And when we start pointing at others, this is not the best thing. We have our own path, our own country, and we need to treat it with care,” the speaker of the State Duma admonished.
