Belgrade will remain committed to the position of abandoning anti-Russian actions. President Aleksandar Vucic spoke about this in an interview with TV Prva. He clarified that a change in position is possible only if the vital interests of the country are threatened.

“We had a difficult year behind us, we saw all sorts of hypocrisy, but we could also see how our position was principled and accurate. We will see how far we can defend this position, in any case, not at the cost of a threat to the interests of this country, but in any case, we will not easily renounce this position,” Vučić said.

After the start of Russia’s special military operation in Ukraine, the President of Serbia took part in a meeting of the UN Security Council. After its completion, he delivered an address to the nation. In it, he stated that Belgrade supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine, but will not impose sanctions against Russia.

Vučić also noted then that for Serbia, Russia and Ukraine are fraternal states, and expressed deep regret about what is happening in the east of Europe. In addition, the Serbian President said that his country is ready to provide humanitarian assistance to Kyiv.
