Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic at the South-Eastern Europe – Ukraine summit, which was held in Tirana, expressed his misunderstanding about the negative attitude of some Serbian citizens towards Ukraine. He declared his intention to develop friendly relations with Kiev.

As part of the summit, a bilateral meeting of the delegations of Serbia and Ukraine took place, where the European path of both countries, their territorial integrity, compliance with the UN Charter and peace initiatives were discussed.

Vučić stressed that he does not understand the negative attitude towards Ukraine, arguing that Ukraine did not take hostile actions against Serbia, and also did not recognize the independence of Kosovo. He noted that Ukraine and Russia are Slavic brothers for Serbia, and strives to strengthen friendly relations.

Earlier it was reported that the Serbian delegation insisted that points relating to sanctions against Russia and Moscow’s “malign influence” in the region be excluded from the final declaration of the summit.
