Foreign interference was present in the Wagner military coup attempt, what happened in Russia will have great consequences, and now Russian President Vladimir Putin faces a particularly difficult task, said Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic. About this he declared on TV Pink.
“This is not an event that will not leave consequences either for the situation on the battlefield in Ukraine or for the domestic political situation. I think it will leave deep consequences,” said Vučić.
In his opinion, the decision to give “tremendous power” to the military company was a mistake. The President is also convinced that outsiders were involved in the attempted rebellion.
“I don’t want to say who was involved in this from the outside, but don’t even doubt, there should be no doubt … With us, foreign services are always involved in countless things,” said Vučić (quote from RIA Novosti).
He pointed out that as a result of the incident, seven Russian helicopters were shot down, and the mutiny attempt ended thanks to “Putin’s sharp, decisive and clear reaction.”
On the evening of June 23, PMC founder Yevgeny Prigozhin announced a missile attack on one of the rear camps of a military company by the Ministry of Defense. The military department denied the statement, calling it an informational provocation. Prigozhin’s troops blocked Rostov-on-Don, after which he announced the advance of the military towards Moscow. A criminal case was opened against him for organizing an armed rebellion.
On the evening of June 24, the Kremlin reported on the agreements reached. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko held talks with Prigozhin, who agreed to take measures to de-escalate the situation. In particular, the founder of the PMC announced the return of fighters and equipment to field camps. It was decided to close the criminal case against the businessman.
