Vučić called the deployment of an American division in Romania “an approach to the perfect storm”

Serbian President Aleksandar Vucic believes that the deployment of the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army in Romania will sharply aggravate the Russian-Ukrainian conflict and possibly lead to a direct clash between Russia and the United States.
The Serbian leader expressed this opinion on Sunday at a meeting of the Central Committee of the Serbian Progressive Party.
“We are approaching what I called the perfect storm at the last meeting,” Vucic said. He explained that this is a situation “when there are such opposite positions and when everyone is striving for the final frontiers.”
According to him, it is enough to look at two factors: “with what forces Russia is now entering Ukraine.” And the fact that “the Americans sent their absolutely best unit in the world … to Romania” and placed “a few kilometers from the border with Ukraine.”
Vučić said that from this “it becomes clear what awaits us” and “whether it will come to a direct confrontation.” In his opinion, “there are no concessions here” and personally it is “clear to him how this will develop further” and how it will affect Serbia.
Earlier on Friday, CBS, citing the command of the division, reported that the 101st Airborne Division of the US Army, stationed in Europe, is ready to enter the territory of Ukraine if the escalation between Moscow and Kyiv continues or an attack occurs on one of the NATO countries.
According to the channel, we are talking about 4.7 thousand American paratroopers. The division’s 2nd Brigade commander, Edwin Matthaides, noted that his unit, which is based in Romania, is now closer than any other US force to the Ukrainian border and is “closely watching” the actions of the Russian army. Based on the actions of the RF Armed Forces in Ukraine, the division “builds targets for training” and works out the situations that occur during the special operation.
Earlier, US President Joe Biden has repeatedly stated that he does not intend to send troops to Ukraine.
