VTB Group acquired 28% of the manufacturer of Russian electric vessels Emperium

VTB Group (MOEX: VTBR) entered the shipbuilding business of Sitronics Group and acquired 28% in its subsidiary Emperium. Interfax reported this with reference to the bank’s press service.
It is clarified that Sitronics Group has launched the country’s first mass production of passenger electric ships. The company’s shipbuilding assets include a design bureau and a shipyard in Otradnoye in the Leningrad region. The company designs and builds ships with a capacity of 50 to 200 passengers on board.
The company developed and built electric vessels of the Ecobus project for river transport in Moscow, which were included in the Russian book of records. An agreement on financing projects for the development and construction of Russian electric vessels was reached at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2023).
In September, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a decree on the transfer to VTB trust management for five years of the United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) “to improve management efficiency and further develop the shipbuilding industry.” Vladimir Putin announced the decision to transfer the state stake in USC to VTB on August 10 at a meeting with the head of the bank, Andrei Kostin.
