Volodin urged to use tax debts to solve people’s problems

State Duma Chairman Vyacheslav Volodin proposed directing funds collected from tax evaders using fraudulent schemes to solve people’s problems and support the military and their families. About this he declared in his Telegram channel, congratulating Russians on Labor Day.

Volodin said that with the development of modern technologies, not only new professions and opportunities have arisen, but also new ways to circumvent the law and enrich themselves at the expense of citizens. According to him, some people earn big fortunes on the trust of Russians, and use fraudulent schemes to avoid paying taxes. Such issues should be under special control of the Federal Tax Service, he stressed.

“The collected money should be used to repair schools, hospitals, solve people’s problems, to support our soldiers and officers, their families. Today is challenge time. The moment of truth. Everyone in their area must do everything for the development of the country,” Volodin wrote.

Since March, several criminal cases have been initiated against Russian infobusinessmen. For example, blogger Alexander Mitroshin is charged under an article on tax evasion totaling over 120 million rubles. Blogger Valeria Chekalina (known under the pseudonym Lerchik) was charged with tax evasion for more than 311 million rubles, and her husband Artyom with complicity.

On April 27, the “marathon queen” Elena Blinovskaya was detained by a checkpoint in the Smolensk region while trying to leave for Belarus. A criminal case was initiated against her under a similar article. According to investigators, she did not pay VAT and personal income tax for a total amount of over 918 million rubles.
