Volodin threatened the relocants with Magadan if they returned to Russia

Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin warned relocants who criticized Russia that they were not welcome and should not return to the country. He stated this at a meeting of the lower house of parliament.

According to Volodin, a relocant who left the country and “committed vile acts, rejoicing at the shots fired on the territory of the Russian Federation,” must realize that he is not welcome in Russia. “But if he comes here, Magadan is guaranteed for him,” – clarified Volodin (quote from Interfax).

The State Duma speaker noted that Russia does not need such people and they must understand this. “We, for our part, must do everything necessary so that there are no such people, let them sit there,” he added.

In September, presidential press secretary Dmitry Peskov statedthat Russians who left the country during the special operation will return as the economic situation changes. He noted that it is completely normal to look for more comfortable living and working conditions abroad. However, Peskov added that there is hardly a place for those who have become enemies. At the same time, he urged not to exaggerate the number of such people.

After the start of Russia’s special operation in Ukraine in February 2022, several waves of emigration occurred. In December 2022, the head of the Ministry of Digital Development Maksut Shadayev assessedthat about 100,000 IT specialists left Russia and did not return.
