Volodin: State Duma committees are preparing amendments to ban the activities of the ICC in Russia

The profile committees of the State Duma are preparing amendments to the legislation that will prohibit the activities of the International Criminal Court (ICC) and international bodies in Russia, which is directed against the Russian Federation. About it informed Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin following the meeting.

As the press service of the State Duma notes, the amendments also provide for the introduction of a ban on public calls for the execution of anti-Russian decisions of international bodies and cooperation with them. At the same time, the President of the Russian Federation will be endowed with “powers to protect Russian citizens” in cases where international bodies make decisions that contradict Russian law. Criminal liability should be provided for such crimes, Volodin emphasized.

“For this purpose, proposals are being prepared to introduce norms for punishment in the form of fines and imprisonment into the Criminal and Criminal Procedure Codes,” he added.

Amendments are being prepared in the Federal Law “On Security”. The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Irina Yarovaya, as well as Chairman of the Security and Anti-Corruption Committee Vasily Piskarev and Chairman of the Defense Committee Andrei Kartapolov.

On March 17, the Criminal Court in The Hague issued an arrest warrant for Russian President Vladimir Putin and Maria Lvova-Belova, Commissioner for Children’s Rights in the Russian Federation. Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the decisions of the International Criminal Court have no legal force and are void. Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council Dmitry Medvedev said that this decision would have “monstrous” consequences for international law, and added that “the practical value [в этом нет] no”.
