Trade turnover between Russia and Venezuela in the five months of this year increased by more than 47%, reported Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin at a meeting with Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic Jorge Rodriguez Gomez.
“This is a very good result of mutually beneficial cooperation between our countries,” the press service of the lower house quotes him as saying.
During the meeting, which took place within the framework of the first international parliamentary conference “Russia – Latin America,” Volodin and Gomez signed an agreement on parliamentary cooperation. The Speaker of the State Duma noted that relations between the Russian Federation and Venezuela are developing thanks to the work of their presidents, and the task of the parliaments is to bring the dialogue to a qualitatively new level, ensuring legislative implementation of the agreements reached by the heads of state.
“Venezuela and Russia are connected not only by ties of friendship and long-standing relations. We are partners and like-minded people, we stand for a multipolar world, building a fair world order,” Volodin said.
Gomez, in turn, noted that cooperation between Moscow and Caracas was built on the basis of fraternal relations, without any coercion or domination, and the unipolar world ceased to exist.
