State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin began the March 1 plenary session with a discussion of the effectiveness of State Duma committees. Four deputies told Vedomosti about this. According to two of them, it was about rewarding and punishing the chairmen and heads of apparatuses of the committees of the lower house of parliament. The discussion was held behind closed doors from journalists.
One of the deputies says that the best heads of the apparatus will be given commendations and bonuses, and those who are lagging behind will be given a month to correct. If nothing changes, then committee chairmen will be reprimanded (deputies cannot be fined), but the head of the apparatus may be deprived of a quarterly bonus, a Vedomosti source said.
