Volodin predicted Zelensky the fate of Saakashvili

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky will repeat the fate of the former Georgian leader Mikheil Saakashvili, on whose orders the peaceful city of Tskhinval in South Ossetia was attacked in August 2008, Russia then came out in defense of the civilian population. “The fate of the puppets of Washington and Brussels always ends the same way – they get rid of them. Zelensky is next. Saakashvili was remembered only for chewing his tie. He is an outcast in prison. The same awaits Zelensky,” he wrote.

Volodin noted that the period from 2004 to 2013, when Saakashvili served as president of Georgia, was “emphatically Russophobic.” The Speaker of the State Duma reminded that Georgia was then supported by the EU and NATO, financed and trained the military. “The same thing that happened later in Ukraine,” Volodin stressed.

According to the speaker of the State Duma, the leadership of Western countries is tired of Zelensky. “His ingratitude has become the dominant feature of European politics. This is openly declared at the official level in Britain and even in Poland,” he added.

Saakashvili was detained in Georgia on October 1, 2021. He returned to the country shortly before the first round of the municipal elections. Several criminal cases were initiated against him, in two of which he was sentenced to a total of nine years in prison. In early 2018, he was sentenced in absentia to three years in prison in connection with the 2006 murder of an employee of the United Bank of Georgia. The politician was found guilty of abuse of office. In June of the same year, he received another six years in prison for the 2005 beating of opposition MP Valery Gelashvili.

Initially, Saakashvili was in a prison in the city of Rustavi, and in May 2022 he was transferred to a Tbilisi clinic for a medical examination. Doctors revealed a spinal injury in him, the ex-president of Georgia needed an operation.
