Volodin instructed to find out whether the Lukoil refinery supplied fuel to Ukraine

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin instructed the Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption to request from the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Energy data on possible supplies of gasoline and fuel to Ukraine from the refinery (refinery) of the company “Lukoil” In Bulgaria.

“A request to the committee [Госдумы] on security, immediately send a request to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Energy, and then announce the answer at a meeting of the State Duma, ”Volodin said at a plenary meeting of the lower house (quote according to TASS).

Formerly First Deputy Head of the State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Konstantin Zatulin addressed to Volodin with a request to send inquiries to the Prosecutor General’s Office and the Ministry of Energy in order to find out whether oil from the Lukoil refinery was actually supplied to Ukraine. He recalled that before that, the speaker of the State Duma had already instructed the Duma committees to study information on the supply of fuel produced by the refinery in Bulgaria to the Ukrainian Armed Forces.

According to Zatulin, the committees on energy and on security and corruption sent a request to the Foreign Ministry and “Lukoil“. The company replied that they “do not know where the gasoline and diesel fuel bought by intermediaries from its plant in Burgas were sent,” the deputy said.

In January, the Die Welt newspaper, citing the ex-Minister of Finance of Bulgaria, Asen Vasilev, reported that the republic had been secretly supplying diesel fuel and ammunition to Ukraine since the spring of 2022. The newspaper claimed that the fuel was produced only from Russian oil at the petrochemical plant in Burgas “Lukoil”.

In Lukoil, in turn, deliveries to Ukraine denied and stated that they reserve the right to take legal action due to media reports.
