Polish President Andrzej Duda, who supported the proposal to demand reparations from Russia for the Second World War, thus rehabilitates fascism, declared Speaker of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin.

“The statement of the President of Poland rehabilitates fascism, insults the memory of our grandfathers and great-grandfathers who gave their lives for the freedom and independence of the Polish people,” he wrote on his Telegram channel.

Volodin recalled that the fascist invaders destroyed the Poles along with the Russians, Ukrainians and Belarusians, and in January 1945 the residents of Warsaw greeted the Soviet troops with flowers and tears in their eyes.

“Today Poland exists as a state only thanks to our country,” Volodin wrote.

In his opinion, law enforcement agencies should study Duda’s statement and “take appropriate measures to bring him to criminal responsibility.”

On September 14, the Polish Parliament adopted resolution, in which he called on the political leadership of the FRG to “unconditionally assume political, historical, legal and financial responsibility” for all the harm caused by Nazi Germany to the Polish people. The resolution notes that Warsaw has never received any compensation either from Berlin or from Moscow, which, according to the deputies, is responsible for “the consequences of the aggression of the Soviet Union in 1939.”

After that, Duda, in an interview with a journalist declaredthat “sees no reason why Poland should not demand reparations from Russia.”

On the eve of the Russian ambassador to Poland, Sergei Andreev, noted that Russia has not yet received any official requests from Poland for compensation and considers such conversations immoral. At the same time, the diplomat said that Warsaw demanded from Moscow, the return of seven paintings that are stored in the vaults of the Pushkin Museum im. Pushkin. In Poland, they believe that they were “stolen” during the Second World War.

In early September, the head of Poland’s ruling Law and Justice (PiS) party, Jarosław Kaczynski, said that Poland would require Germany to pay 6.2 trillion złoty (about $1.3 trillion) as reparations due to World War II. In Germany, the issue of reparations was called closed and the possibility of further discussion was rejected.
