Russia attaches great importance to the development of relations with Mongolia; the countries should cooperate in various fields, said Chairman of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin during an official visit to Ulaanbaatar.
The Speaker of the State Duma met with the Chairman of the State Great Khural of Mongolia Gombozhavyn Zandanshatar, reported in the parliamentary press service.
According to Volodin, Russia and Mongolia should develop “a variety of formats of cooperation: interregional, cross-border and inter-parliamentary format.”
On September 25, a meeting of the commission on cooperation between the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the State Great Khural of Mongolia will take place, and it is important that this commission “laid new relations,” the State Duma speaker noted.
“This will allow us to reach a new level of interaction, where we could already, within the parliamentary dimension, discuss issues of harmonization of legislation and, through legislative support, talk about the development of trade relations, resolving issues in the field of transport, economics, finance, energy and, of course, issues related to the humanitarian sphere,” Volodin said.
Zandanshatar, in turn, called the development of relations and cooperation with the Russian Federation one of the priorities of Mongolia’s foreign policy, and Volodin invited Mongolian deputies to visit Russia and proposed holding a second meeting of the cooperation commission in Moscow.
