Volodin asked to check data on civil servants who tried to leave during the mutiny

State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin turned to Vasily Piskarev, Chairman of the Duma Committee on Security and Anti-Corruption, with a request to check which of the civil servants tried to leave Russia during the armed rebellion.

“A request to the chairman of the security committee, together with law enforcement agencies, to analyze who at that time was trying to fly out of those who occupy significant positions, work in the public service, in government agencies, joint-stock companies, corporations. And make it public,” Volodin said.

The Chairman of the State Duma said that “we all condemn those who left it at a difficult moment for the country,” and called for such actions to be punishable. According to him, people who have committed such an “unseemly act” are “out of the way” with public service.

Volodin called such a step a betrayal and added that such people have no place in the public service, as well as in state structures and corporations. In conclusion, the speaker of the lower house shamed civil servants who tried to leave Russia during the uprising and called for appropriate measures to be taken against them.

June 24 “Wagner” took control of military facilities in Rostov-on-Don and blockaded the city. PMC fighters, led by the company’s founder Yevgeny Prigozhin, moved from the special operation zone towards Moscow on June 23 after Prigozhin accused the Ministry of Defense of attacking the company’s rear camps. The military department denied the information, calling the message a provocation.

According to the founder of the PMC, “Wagner” did not reach 200 km from Moscow. On the evening of June 24, after negotiations with Lukashenka, Prigozhin announced that he had decided to stop the movement towards Moscow and return to the rear camps of PMCs.

Press Secretary of the President of the Russian Federation Dmitry Peskov explainedthat, as a result of the negotiations, an agreement was reached: the criminal case initiated against Prigozhin would be terminated, and he himself would “leave for Belarus.” Wagner fighters who did not participate in the rebellion will be able to conclude contracts with the Ministry of Defense, the Kremlin said.
