Volodin addressed the fighters of the PMC and announced the support of Putin by the deputies

Deputies of the State Duma of Russia are in favor of consolidating forces and supporting President Vladimir Putin, and the fighters of the Wagner PMC must follow the orders of the commander-in-chief, Vyacheslav Volodin, chairman of the lower house of parliament, said.

Speaker of the State Duma commented in his Telegram channel, the events taking place in the last 24 hours related to the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin. Earlier, a criminal case was opened against him for organizing an armed rebellion.

According to Volodin, problems and troubles in Russia have always occurred only because of “betrayal, internal split and betrayal of the elites.”

“Deputies of the State Duma, representing the interests of the citizens of the Russian Federation, are in favor of consolidating forces, supporting President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin, our Supreme Commander,” the State Duma speaker wrote.

In his opinion, the Wagner fighters must make “the only right choice: to be with their people, on the side of the law, to protect the security and future of the Motherland” and follow the orders of the commander in chief. Anything else is a betrayal, Volodin believes. In a situation where Russia is confronted by a common external enemy, it is necessary to unite and “do everything to win,” he concluded.

On the evening of June 23, on social networks associated with Prigozhin, on his behalf, it was announced about a missile attack on one of the rear camps of a military company and other statements were circulated. The Ministry of Defense stated that reports of attacks on Wagner PMC fighters are not true and are an “information provocation.” The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the Investigation Department of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on the organization of an armed rebellion against Prigozhin. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin was informed about what was happening. Today the Ministry of Defense urged PMC “Wagner” fighters “to show prudence” and contact the ministry or law enforcement agencies in order to safely return to their permanent deployment points.

Putin, in connection with the situation with the Wagner PMC and its founder, addressed the citizens of Russia, the personnel of the Armed Forces, law enforcement agencies and special services, “to the soldiers and commanders who are now fighting in their combat positions.” He stated that all those who prepared an armed rebellion, “took the path of blackmail and terrorist methods”, will be punished – “they will answer both before the law and before our people.”
