Vladimir Putin will take part in the Council of Legislators

On the Day of Russian Parliamentarism, April 27, deputies and senators will gather in the Tauride Palace for the Council of Legislators. This was reported to Vedomosti by two interlocutors close to the presidential administration. According to one of them, it is expected that President Vladimir Putin will personally take part in the event at the Tauride Palace.

Although communication with legislators is largely “ritual in nature”, it can sum up the work of the past year – for example, to ensure the fight against sanctions and an external threat, says the source of Vedomosti. The last communication between the president and representatives of the chambers of the Federal Assembly took place during the message of Vladimir Putin on February 21, but it did not provide for the possibility of deputies and senators reporting to the head of state, the source indicates.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov did not answer Vedomosti’s question about whether Vladimir Putin would take part in the Council of Legislators. In 2022, the meeting of the Council of Legislators was attended by the president, it also took place on April 27. The work plan of the Council of Legislators states that two topics will be discussed during the meeting – “the unity of the educational space” and “biological safety”.

The Council of Legislators is an advisory and advisory body to the Federal Assembly. It is headed by Chairman of the State Duma Vyacheslav Volodin and Chairman of the Federation Council Valentina Matviyenko. In addition to the speakers of the two chambers, it includes vice-speakers of the State Duma and the Federation Council, chairmen of committees, speakers of legislative assemblies, etc. The Council of Legislators rarely meets in its entirety.
