The head of the Chechen Republic Ramzan Kadyrov in his Telegram channel responded to Pope Francis, who called the Chechens and Buryats “the most cruel in the Russian army.”
Kadyrov, commenting on this passage, quipped that he could remind His Holiness Francis about the Inquisition, the Crusades or the terrible footage of the execution of unarmed Russian military fighters by the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
“But it’s better to tell you about what every Chechen is guided by, whether in war or in civilian life. This is Islam. We don’t start a fight without an offer of peace … About the attitude of Chechens towards prisoners, cruel or not, the Ukrainian military themselves will tell you who were in our captivity… It is a shame for a world-famous religious personality not to know about the attitude of Muslims towards the enemy,” the head of Chechnya wrote.
He also added that the people of the republic are jealous of the defense of the Motherland, religion, and this is not cruelty at all.
“There is not a single alcoholic or drug addict in the ranks of our fighters, everyone is deeply religious. And each of the fighters knows that in war one should not forget about honor, dignity and respect even for the enemy … The head of the Vatican … became a victim of propaganda and perseverance of foreign media,” Kadyrov concluded.
