The Ministry of Defense proposed to grant the status of a combat veteran to persons who protect the regions adjacent to the special operation areas in Ukraine and in new subjects. Draft resolution published on the portal of projects of normative legal acts.
The military department proposes to supplement the law “On Veterans”. It is proposed to give this status to citizens who repel an armed invasion, maintain law and order, guard and defend important state facilities in the territories adjacent to the special operation zone in Ukraine. We are talking, among other things, about areas close to the borders of the DPR, LPR, Kherson and Zaporozhye regions.
Funding for the initiative is proposed to be provided from the regional and federal budgets. The explanatory note does not say how much funds will be required for these purposes in 2023 if the amendments are adopted. “The proposed bill will increase the level of social protection, realize the rights of these citizens to the status of a veteran and invalid of military operations and extend support measures to them,” the document says.
