Vershinin: Russia agrees to extend "grain deal" for 60 days

Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said at a briefing in Geneva after the completion of another round of consultations with UN representatives that Moscow has no objection to extending the “Black Sea Initiative” after the second term expires on March 18, but only for 60 days.

He explained that in the future Russia’s position will be determined by real progress in normalizing the situation with Russian agricultural exports, including bank payments, logistics and the supply of ammonia through the Togliatti-Odessa pipeline.

At the same time, Vershinin noted that the previously announced sanctions relief for food and fertilizers by the US, EU and UK do not actually work. And if the commercial export of Ukrainian products is carried out at a steady pace, then barriers still remain in the way of Russian exporters.
