Vereshchuk: Russian teachers detained in Kharkiv region, they will be tried

Deputy Prime Minister of Ukraine Irina Vereshchuk said that in the districts of the Kharkiv region, control over which was established by the Armed Forces of Ukraine after announced by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation the regrouping of troops, school teachers from Russia were detained. Vereshchuk said that the detained teachers would be tried under Article 438 of the Ukrainian code – “violation of the laws and customs of war.” She also noted that the detained teachers will not be contributed to the exchange fund of prisoners, because “the Geneva Conventions do not provide for the exchange of non-prisoners of war.”

As for the Ukrainian teachers who agreed to work according to the Russian school curriculum, they will have to answer before the law for collaboration activities, the Deputy Prime Minister added. She called on Ukrainian teachers in other regions “not to cooperate in any way,” but to evacuate to territories controlled by Kyiv.
