Venezuela announces mobilization of army and annexation of Western Guyana

How reports El Pais, the Venezuelan authorities announced the mobilization of troops in the country in connection with the decision to annex Western Guyana. The country’s President Nicolas Maduro made a corresponding statement.
Earlier, Venezuela held a referendum on the inclusion of this region into its country. The majority of citizens supported this decision, after which President Maduro declared the disputed territory the 24th state of Venezuela.
A deputy from the ruling party, Major General Alexis Rodriguez Cabello, has been appointed interim head of the region.
It should be noted that Guyana, rich in mineral resources (oil, gold, diamonds), is the only English-speaking country on the continent.
