Vadim Kstenin re-elected mayor of Voronezh

Today, on March 22, deputies of the City Duma of Voronezh elected Vadim Kstenin as the mayor of the city. He has held this post since the end of 2017, when the previous mayor Alexander Gusev became the governor of the region.

28 out of 30 deputies present at the meeting voted for Mr. Kstenin’s candidacy. Two MPs did not vote. Mr. Kstenin’s opponent was the deputy of the regional Duma from the Liberal Democratic Party, Alexander Ovsyannikov. Both candidates were allowed to vote according to the results of a special competition, in which they also participated, but did not make it to the finals, the head of the administration of the Zheleznodorozhny district of Voronezh, Leonid Belyaev, deputy general director for development of one of the largest developers in the region, DSK, Sergey Kryuchkov, social activist Ilya Naumov and unemployed Alexander Dudchenko.

Governor Alexander Gusev congratulated Vadim Kstenin and wished him to work for the benefit of the townspeople and for the prosperity of the regional center. He stressed that this is the first mayor in the modern history of Voronezh, who successfully completed his first term and began his second.

Vadim Kstenin is 47 years old. Born on June 12, 1975 in the Saulkrasti village of the Riga region of the Latvian SSR. After graduating from the Voronezh State Academy of Architecture and Civil Engineering, he worked for ten years at OAO Voronezhnefteprodukt. Later he worked in the departments of the municipal order, budget policy and organization of procurement for municipal needs of the administration of Voronezh and headed the department of housing and communal services. In 2010-2015, Vadim Kstenin headed the department of housing and communal services and energy of the Voronezh region, after which he returned to the mayor’s office as first deputy head. He took over as mayor in December 2017.
