Uzbekistan threatened to block Yandex Go if it does not become a tax resident of the country

The Tax Committee of Uzbekistan demanded that the Yandex Go service register as a tax resident of the country by December – otherwise it faces blocking. About this in my Telegram channel reported the Tax Committee. Yandex Go is already negotiating with the tax committee on the topic of localization, RIA Novosti confirmed.

“In September of this year, Ridetech International BV was presented with demands to organize its activities in accordance with legislative documents within two months,” the statement said.

The Committee requires the company to register as a tax resident to pay taxes and integrate the service into the electronic system of the tax authorities of Uzbekistan in order to provide clients with fiscal receipts. If the conditions are not met by December 1, the Tax Committee will require blocking the service in the country.

In March, the committee said that the income of the Dutch company Ridetech International, which owns Yandex Go, is not subject to taxes, since there is a double taxation agreement between the countries.

Earlier, Kommersant’s sources confirmed that the conditions for dividing Yandex’s assets between Russian and international structures changed after criticism of the company’s co-founder Arkady Volozh in relation to military actions on the territory of Ukraine. According to unofficial information, the amount that should go to the Dutch Yandex NV has been reduced from $250 million to $70–80 million. Kommersant’s interlocutors believe that the possible lifting of European sanctions is more important for Mr. Volozh than the amount of the transaction.
