Ushakov allowed discussion of the idea of a gas union at the EAEU summit

The issue of a trilateral gas agreement between Russia, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan may be discussed at the EAEU summit in Bishkek on October 9. This was announced at a briefing by Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov, a Vedomosti correspondent reports.
“This idea (of a trilateral gas agreement) is under discussion. I do not rule out that in Bishkek (at the EAEU summit on December 9) it will somehow be affected. There will be a prime minister from Uzbekistan and there may be some contact during this meeting,” Ushakov said.
Earlier today Reuters led the words of the Minister of Energy and Deputy Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov that Tashkent would not agree to the idea of a “gas union” with Russia and Kazakhstan, namely political conditions in exchange for gas.
Later, the press secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov declared journalists that within the framework of the draft trilateral gas agreement, there is no talk of exchanging gas for political demands. The summit of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will be held in Bishkek on December 9, and Russian President Vladimir Putin will visit it along with a government delegation.
