US suspends support for Ukraine due to lack of funding

The American government has frozen projects to assist Ukraine. This is due to the lack of long-term funding, the head of the US State Department press service, Matthew Miller, said at a briefing.
“While we have the ability to continue to support Ukraine’s ability to defend itself in the near future, we have already exhausted most of our current security financial assistance,” Miller said (quote according to TASS).
He noted that in the current conditions, the United States cannot enter into long-term contracts necessary to support Ukraine. The American authorities have suspended their funding, the official representative of the State Department emphasized.
On September 30, the US Congress agreed on a short-term budget for the next 45 days. The document did not include expenses for assistance to Ukraine. As interviewed experts previously told Vedomosti, this decision does not mean a complete cessation of support for Kyiv and the Armed Forces of Ukraine – in this case, the United States provides part of the funding through alternative channels.
