US National Security Adviser Jake Sullivan paid an unannounced visit to Ukraine today, November 4. It is reported by Bloomberg News.
During a visit to Kyiv, Mr. Sullivan promised that US support would remain “unwavering” after the November 8 midterm congressional elections.
Earlier, some Republicans called for a cut in US aid to Kyiv if they gain control of Congress in November. However, Jake Sullivan said that President Joe Biden is committed to bipartisan cooperation “under any scenario” to ensure economic, humanitarian and security assistance flows. Mr. Sullivan met in Kyiv with President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky and head of his office Andriy Yermak,
“I am confident that … US support for Ukraine will be unshakable, and I mean it seriously,” said the adviser to the US president (quoted by Reuters). Mr. Yermak said Friday’s meeting with Jake Sullivan was “very important” and that Ukraine’s partners “fully understand our situation.”
