US President Joe Biden’s son Hunter has been charged with three counts of weapons possession. About this with reference to court documents reported NBC TV channel.
Two counts relate to filling out a controlled substance form when purchasing a revolver in the fall of 2018. The third count alleges Hunter was in possession of a firearm while using drugs.
The maximum term for the first two counts is 10 years in prison, and for the third – up to five years in prison, the channel clarifies.
Hunter Biden previously faced federal charges of violating tax and anti-money laundering laws in his business transactions. According to prosecutors, Hunter received taxable income of more than $1.5 million annually in 2017-2018.
Biden Jr. made a plea deal, admitting to tax evasion, and also agreed to cooperate in the weapons possession case. Biden’s case is being handled by David Weiss, who was appointed prosecutor during Donald Trump’s presidency and in August appointed special prosecutor to investigate the criminal case against Hunter.
Director of the Institute of the USA and Canada of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Garbuzov told Vedomosti that “American society is somewhat similar to ours: people love those who are beaten more.” Now criminal cases have been opened against former US President Donald Trump. He became the first former head of state in the country’s history to face criminal charges.
