US Navy: two American nuclear submarines surfaced from under the ice in the Arctic
The US Navy’s Atlantic Submarine Command reported that two Los Angeles-class nuclear attack submarines have emerged from the ice in the Arctic. It is clarified that the submarines appeared on the surface of the Beaufort Sea north of Alaska as part of the Ice Camp 2024 exercise. In the following days they will sail under the Arctic ice.
The command statement said that the submarines arrived for the Ice Camp Whale exercise in the area of a temporary ice base, which is located on an ice floe 257 km from the coast. The base houses a command center and infrastructure to support the permanent deployment of 60 military personnel.
