US News & World Report: Russian army recognized as the strongest in the world

The Russian armed forces took first place in the ranking of the strongest armies in the world according to the American publication US News & World Report.
The rating was compiled based on the results of a survey in which 17.2 thousand residents of 36 different countries of the world participated. At the same time, a place in the ranking was assigned based on a combination of 73 criteria.
As a result, the Russian army became the leader of the rating, rising from second place to first. The second and third places were taken, respectively, by the armies of the United States of America and China.
The top 10 includes the armies of Israel, South Korea, Ukraine, Iran, Great Britain, Germany, and Turkey.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu emphasized that the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) in the current situation must have powerful armed forcesready to respond to external threats. According to the minister, this is required by the current military-political situation in the world.
At the same time, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov denied assumptions that Russia has a “military budget,” although he admitted that defense spending increased.
