The procedure for the adoption of the country’s military budget for 2023 has begun in the United States. So far, the House of Representatives of the US Congress has voted for the budget. Now it’s up to the US Senate.
The defense budget for 2023 was adopted in the amount of $847.3 billion. Last year it was $778 billion. The current figure is thus a record.
The budget also contains a number of interesting theses. For example, it states that in 2023 the United States will seek the exclusion of Russia from the G20 and a number of other international organizations. It is planned to allocate $6 billion to contain Russia in Europe.
The budget also includes a provision on the imposition of sanctions for participation in gold and foreign exchange transactions with Russian companies. The budget also contains the thesis of introducing a permanent ban on the exchange of information on missile defense systems with Russia. Ukraine was offered to allocate $800 million, Taiwan – $10 billion. Such a difference in the scale of funding suggests that in 2023 Washington may shift its focus to Taiwan.
