A US Coast Guard sail training ship will arrive in Helsinki next week. The press release reporting this on May 22 drew attention edition “Fontanka”, coming out in St. Petersburg, neighboring Finland.
It is expected that the three-masted barque Eagle will moor in the southern port of the Finnish capital. The American ship will be escorted by the Finnish Coast Guard patrol ship Turva.
The sailing ship Eagle was launched in Germany in 1936 and went to the United States following the results of World War II. Since the post-war period, the ship has been used to train future Coast Guard officers. Now it is the only American military sailing vessel.
