The US authorities agreed on the conclusion of a deal for the sale of the NASAMS mobile anti-aircraft missile system to Ukraine. This was announced on Wednesday, May 24, in the US Department of Defense.

The Pentagon clarified that we are talking about one NASAMS complex, an AN / MPQ-64F1 Sentinel radar station and related equipment. The total amount of the deal is $285 million.

The United States Department of Defense expressed confidence that such a move “will serve the goals and interests of the United States in the field of national security” and will help “a partner who maintains political stability and economic progress in Europe.”

In April, the speaker of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Yuriy Ignat, said that in the near future, weapons systems promised by the West would be delivered to Ukraine, including NASAMS. The official did not name specific dates.

However, back in February, a former Pentagon adviser, Colonel Douglas McGregor, warned that the resources of the United States and its allies supplying Ukraine with ammunition were rapidly declining. First of all, as the colonel noted, we are talking about American high-precision weapons, the production of which takes a long time – rockets for HIMARS and NASAMS installations.
