US allocates new $1.2bn military aid package to Ukraine

The Pentagon has allocated a new $1.2 billion military aid package for Ukraine. About it reported press service of the American department.

“The Department of Defense has announced a new security assistance package to reaffirm the continued U.S. support for Ukraine, including to strengthen its air defenses and meet artillery ammunition needs. This package, totaling up to $1.2 billion, is being provided as part of the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative.

The list of deliveries included additional air defense systems and ammunition for it, equipment for integrating Western air defense installations, missiles and radars with Ukrainian air defense systems, 155-mm artillery shells, etc.

Earlier today, plans to announce military aid for that amount wrote agency Associated Press (AP). At the same time, it was noted that it would be aimed at strengthening air defense.

May 1, White House National Security Council Strategic Communications Coordinator John Kirby toldthat the United States gave Ukraine almost 100% of the military assistance it requested for the counteroffensive. Then he announced the continuation of military supplies “very, very soon.”

The Russian authorities have repeatedly pointed to the involvement of Western countries in the conflict in Ukraine. In September 2022, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the Russian army in Ukraine is opposed to “virtually the entire military machine of the collective West.”
