Observers from 13-14 international organizations are expected at the Russian presidential elections, said Ella Pamfilova, Chairman of the Central Election Commission. According to her, it is expected that from 500 to 1 thousand foreign observers will arrive.
“In general, we also have the right to send invitations to independent observers, say, those who have observer status. Now I’m talking exclusively about those who have status, the right of international observation,” Ms. Pamfilova clarified at a meeting of the Central Election Commission (quoted from RIA Novosti).
The Central Election Commission has already sent invitations to observe elections in 95 countries. “Judging by how actively the process is going, the positive response, we feel and observe very high interest in the upcoming presidential elections,” says Ella Pamfilova.
She assured that international observers will be able to visit any region they want. Ms. Pamfilova promised that the CEC “will guarantee the most benevolent, open process, favorable conditions for the observation of our colleagues from foreign countries.”
The presidential elections will be held March 15–17. Current President Vladimir Putin plans to take part in them as a self-nominated candidate. CEC registered initiative group to nominate Mr. Putin in December 2023. On January 17 he first visited your campaign headquarters. 16 people got certificates of authorized persons.
