The Moscow conference of “United Russia” will propose to nominate the mayor of Moscow, Sergei Sobyanin, for the election of the head of the capital on June 9. This was reported to Vedomosti by two sources in the party.
The Communist Party wants to nominate a Moscow City Duma deputy Leonid Zyuganov. The head of the Moscow branch, State Duma deputy Dmitry Gusev, plans to go to the polls from A Just Russia. The LDPR said that it plans to nominate Boris Chernyshov, vice-speaker of the State Duma, for the elections. The New People plan to nominate Vice Speaker Vladislav Davankov. Yabloko discussed the nomination of Moscow City Duma deputies Sergei Mitrokhin or Maxim Kruglov.
May 30 Commission for organizing the work of the Moscow City Duma contributed to the parliament a draft resolution on setting the date for the election of the mayor of the capital. According to the draft resolution, the elections are proposed to be scheduled on a single voting day – September 10. The decision to call elections must be made no earlier than 100 days and no later than 90 days before voting day.
Sobyanin was appointed mayor of Moscow in 2010 by presidential decree. In 2013 and 2018 he participated in the elections as a self-nominated candidate. The fact that Sobyanin will most likely go to these elections as a party candidate, and not as an independent candidate, as before, was previously reported by Kommersant.
