“United Russia” recommended deputies not to swear and not to post “luxury” in social networks

In total, the code contains 11 points, which, among other things, relate to the behavior of deputies in social networks. In particular, party members were asked not to post luxury items, travel and restaurants on their accounts, which could create an image of the “privileged class” in the eyes of the public.
The deputies were also urged not to use obscene language and jargon, which, among other things, could become a reason for trolling by opponents. United Russia advised not to rush to post the reaction on social networks and warned that the desire to “be the first” could turn into misleading and accusations of hype.
Other points of the code relate to the requirements not to violate the party charter, not to post on social networks “in an inadequate physical and mental state” and to control one’s emotions. It is also “categorically not recommended” for deputies to comment on issues of international politics. As follows from the document, such statements should not contradict the official position of the state.
RBC notes that in the code you can also find the heading “You shouldn’t do this!”, which lists unsuccessful examples of politicians’ communication in social networks. In particular, the document mentions the post of United Russia deputy Sultan Khamzaev from January 2022. In it, Khamzaev supported “holding a referendum in Kazakhstan on the reunification of the republic with the historical homeland of Russia.”
There is also a publication by MP Oleg Matveychev, which appeared on his social media page during the January protests in Kazakhstan. Then Matveychev called for violence against the owners of mobile phone shops in Alma-Ata, who supported the protesters. The MP later deleted the post and apologized for it.
