The United Russia conference nominated Aisen Nikolaev, the current leader of the region, as a candidate for the election of the head of Yakutia. About this he reported on your Vkontakte page.
“Today, the conference of the United Russia party nominated me as a candidate for the post of head of the republic. I am grateful to my fellow party members for their trust in me, ”wrote the head of Yakutia.
Nikolaev added that for him it was a “high honor and great responsibility” to the people of Yakutia. “As before, the focus of my attention will be the life of every inhabitant of Yakutia and the life of our entire republic. <…> We have a lot of work to do together and we will definitely succeed. Together – only forward! ”, – wrote the head of Yakutia.
May 29 Russian President Vladimir Putin spent meeting with Nikolaev, during which they discussed the regional labor market, the work of industrial enterprises, investments, preparations for the fire season, etc. Following the meeting, Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov reported TASS that Putin supported the participation of Nikolaev in the upcoming elections.
As Vedomosti previously wrote with reference to a report by experts from the Civil Society Development Fund (ForGO), in Yakutia, a second round of gubernatorial elections in September could theoretically take place. Experts note that Nikolaev was elected with a convincing result (71.40%), but the position of the Communist Party is also strong in the region. The party may nominate State Duma deputy Pyotr Ammosov in Yakutia.
Nikolaev headed Yakutia in 2018. In the period from 2007 to 2011, he headed the administration of the president and government of Yakutia, from 2012 to 2018 he worked as the mayor of Yakutsk.
