“United Russia” demands to withdraw “New people” from the elections to the Duma of Asbest

The branch of the United Russia party in Asbest (Sverdlovsk region) filed a lawsuit demanding that candidates from the New People party be removed from the elections to the Duma of Asbest. Relevant information is posted on the website of the court.
The press service of the New People reported that on August 1, the Asbest City Court left the claim of United Russia without consideration, since the application was submitted by the now former authorized representative of the party, Andrei Elantsev (on July 27, the presidium of the regional political council of United Russia removed him from this position) . However, the lawsuit was filed again on the same day. His hearing is scheduled for August 3.
Nikolai Lapin, one of the New People’s candidates, explained that United Russia’s complaints about his registration were due to the fact that he submitted information about his place of work to the election commission not with the main package of documents, but a day later.
Deputy secretary of the asbestos branch of United Russia, Dmitry Aleksandrin, commenting on the filing of the lawsuit, called on opponents of his party to “calm down.” “For some reason, everyone declares the impeccability of their legal position, but they are very afraid of the court. At first, the Communist Party escaped trial with the help of public tantrums. We warned that if they are allowed to participate in the elections with such violations, literally criminal, then the rest will want to solve their problems not according to the law, but in a brawl format. Now we are seeing this. Apparently, I will wait for new calls demanding to withdraw the statement of claim,” said United Russia.
Recall that earlier the local “United Russia” tried to remove the list of candidates from the Communist Party of the Russian Federation from the elections to the Duma of Asbest, but after talking with the party leadership, the lawsuit was withdrawn.
Elections to the Duma of Asbest will be held on September 11 in 21 single-mandate constituencies. 81 people applied to participate in the campaign, among them Vadim Samoilov, the founder of the rock band Agatha Christie. Candidates from the United Russia parties (20 people), the Communist Party of the Russian Federation (18 people) and two nominees each from A Just Russia – For Truth and the Liberal Democratic Party have already been registered. The New People party and self-nominated candidates have not yet received registration. Candidate registration closes on August 5th.
