The politician expressed confidence that the Russians would continue to resist the colossal pressure from “enemies, opponents from unfriendly countries.” “Whatever they are called, they are, unfortunately, our enemies,” added the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council.

He also told the party members that before the meeting of the General Council, he participated in a meeting on staffing the army with volunteers and contract soldiers, which, according to him, is proceeding with very good dynamics: 185,000 people have joined the armed forces since the beginning of the year. “If someone expected that as a result of this rebellion or coup, people would refuse to serve or their intention would change, this someone deeply miscalculated. The rate of recruitment remained the same, despite a rather difficult event,” Dmitry Medvedev emphasized. At the end of his speech, he recalled that now “it is certainly important to maintain consolidation around the head of our state.”

At the meeting, United Russia discussed humanitarian aid to new regions and approved candidates for by-elections to the State Duma in single-mandate districts. In the Karachay-Cherkess district No. 16, a deputy of the City Duma of Cherkessk Soltan Uzdenov was nominated, in the Simferopol district No. 19 – the head of the committee on social policy of the City Council of Simferopol Yuri Nesterenko, in the Lipetsk district No. 114 – the speaker of the regional council Dmitry Averov, in the Divnogorsk district No. 56 – the ex-head Krasnoyarsk Sergey Eremin.

At the end of the meeting, Dmitry Medvedev once again reminded his comrades-in-arms that now is “a very tough time”: “I ask no one to relax, but, of course, not to lose heart.”
