UN urges Taliban to allow women to work in NGOs

The press service of the United Nations issued a statement calling on the leaders of the Taliban (recognized as terrorist, activity banned in the Russian Federation since 2003) to abandon the ban on women working in humanitarian NGOs.
The statement notes that such a ban is fraught with immediate life-threatening consequences for all citizens of Afghanistan.
“Some urgent programs have already been temporarily halted due to a shortage of female staff. This comes at a time when more than 28 million people in Afghanistan, including millions of women and children, are in need of assistance,” the document says.
