The United Nations (UN) opposes the use of depleted uranium projectiles anywhere in the world. About it informed TASS with reference to the deputy official representative of the secretary general of the organization Farhan Haq.
“We oppose the use of depleted uranium projectiles anywhere in the world,” he said.
September 6 Pentagon announced transfer of shells with depleted uranium for Abrams tanks to Ukraine. They will become part of the 46th $175 million assistance package to Ukraine. It will also include ammunition for HIMARS, equipment to support Ukrainian air defense systems, 155 and 105 mm artillery shells, Javelin and AT-4 anti-tank systems, etc.
In the Kremlin emphasizedthat the new package will not affect the course of the special operation. In March, Russian President Vladimir Putin warnedthat Moscow will be forced to respond to the supply of depleted uranium shells to Ukraine, specifying that their supply confirms the West’s readiness to fight Russia to the last Ukrainian.
