UN: not a single ship with fertilizers from Russia was sent as part of a grain deal

For the entire duration of the grain deal, it was not possible to send a single ship with Russian fertilizers, the UN Coordination Center said.

“The agreement of July 22, 2022 also allows the export of fertilizers, including ammonia, but not a single ship with fertilizers was sent as part of the initiative,” – told RIA Novosti in the center.

They noted that the export of fertilizers depends on the situation with the ammonia pipeline Tolyatti-Odessa, now “its status is unknown.” In addition, according to the center, during the duration of the initiative, the poorest countries received only 10% of corn and 40% of wheat shipped from Ukrainian ports.

The deal was concluded on July 22, 2022 by representatives of Turkey and the UN, on the one hand, and representatives of Russia and Ukraine, on the other. As part of the negotiations, two agreements were signed between Moscow and Kiev. The first is for the export of Ukrainian grain from three ports, including Odessa, Yuzhny and Chornomorsk, the second is for assistance in the export of Russian grain and fertilizers.

Presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said earlier that Russia could withdraw from the grain deal after it ends on July 17. Among the conditions that Moscow put forward to extend the agreement were the connection of the Russian Agricultural Bank to SWIFT, the supply of agricultural machinery and spare parts, the resuscitation of the ammonia pipeline, the unblocking of transport logistics and insurance, and the unfreezing of the assets of Russian companies. On June 7, the Ministry of Defense reported that on the evening of June 5, the Ukrainian DRG blew up the Togliatti-Odessa ammonia pipeline in the Masyutovka region of the Kharkov region. The Kremlin noted that the blowing up of the ammonia pipeline complicates the situation with the extension of the grain deal.
