UN mission arrived in Karabakh for the second time

This is the second visit of the UN mission to Karabakh after Azerbaijan carried out anti-terrorist operations there. For the first time the delegation came in Karabakh on October 1. Then their goal was to familiarize themselves with the situation on the ground and determine the humanitarian needs of the residents.
On September 19, Azerbaijan announced the start of “anti-terrorist measures.” The next day, Karabakh authorities announced the conclusion of agreements on a complete ceasefire. On September 28, the president of the unrecognized republic, Samvel Shahramanyan, signed a decree on the termination of its existence from January 1, 2024 and the dissolution of all government institutions and organizations.
September 22, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Armenia Ararat Mirzoyan called introduce peacekeepers with a UN mandate into the unrecognized republic. During a meeting of the UN Security Council on the situation in Karabakh, he said that this would ensure stability and security in the region.
