Representatives of the Palestinian Authority and a group of UN experts spoke on the first day of hearings on the legality of Israeli control over Judea and Samaria at the International Court of Justice in The Hague.

Palestinian Foreign Minister Riad al-Malki stressed that Palestinians face apartheid and colonialism and called on the court to declare Israel’s presence in the Palestinian territories illegal.

The UN experts involved said they had credible evidence of Israel’s egregious violations of human rights, particularly of women and girls. According to these allegations, they are targeted and killed, often together with other family members, including children.

Particular attention is paid to sexual violence against Palestinians. “Israeli male officers stripped them and searched them. In at least two cases there is evidence of rape, many were threatened with rape,” Anadolu Agency quoted experts as saying.
