The United Nations and its humanitarian partners have initiated a $268 million fundraiser to help the population of Ukraine during the winter. This was announced on Tuesday, August 22, by the official representative of the UN Secretary-General Stephane Dujarric.
The official clarified that it was about the repair of houses located near the line of hostilities, as well as providing people with clothes and heating devices.
It is expected that this amount will be enough to provide assistance to more than 1.3 million Ukrainians.
Earlier, United States President Joe Biden asked the US Congress to allocate $8.5 billion to Ukraine and other countries in the form of economic, humanitarian and military aid. At the same time, 7.3 billion dollars are proposed to be sent to provide assistance to Ukraine and other countries that are faced with various kinds of conflicts, and their populations.
However, often humanitarian aid in Ukraine does not reach the addressees. In July, Alexander Gololobov, the head of the Malodanilovsky village council, was detained in the Kharkiv region, suspected of trafficking in humanitarian aid.
