Ukrenergo announced the cessation of production at one power plant

In Ukraine, one of the power plants stopped generating energy as a result of damage, the most difficult situation is in the Kyiv region, as well as in the south and east of the country, the press service of the national energy company Ukrenergo reported.

“As of December 24, a significant shortage of electricity remains in the energy system. All types of generation are working, but due to shelling and damage to equipment, one of the power plants stopped generating,” the company said in its Telegram channel.

According to Ukrenergo, a number of restrictions in the electricity transmission system continue to operate in the country as a result of damage to the main networks. Consumption limits have been brought to all regions, the excess of which leads to the application of emergency restrictions, the company specified. Repair work at energy infrastructure facilities, where possible, is ongoing around the clock, the report said.

On October 10, the Russian military began to strike at Ukraine’s critical infrastructure. Russian President Vladimir Putin, during an operational meeting with members of the Security Council, said that such a decision was made in response to Ukrainian attempts at terrorist attacks on Russian territory, including an explosion on the Crimean bridge. He emphasized that the reaction to such actions would be tough.

Formerly Russian Ministry of Defense reported about delivering a massive strike on December 16 against military command and control systems, the defense industry and energy facilities of Ukraine. The defense ministry specified that as a result of the strike, the transfer of foreign-made weapons and ammunition was disrupted, and the advancement of reserves to the combat areas was blocked. In addition, the defense enterprises of Ukraine, where they produced and repaired weapons, were stopped. The destruction at civilian facilities in the department was explained by “unprofessional actions” of Ukrainian air defense crews.
