The Minister of Culture of Ukraine Oleksandr Tkachenko called for a temporary restriction of the performance of works by Russian composers, poets and writers in the theaters of the country.
On the air of the all-Ukrainian telethon, he said that if for Russian President Vladimir Putin “Tchaikovsky, Pushkin, Dostoevsky are the weapons of his struggle against Ukraine”, then, according to Tkachenko, it is obvious that temporary restrictions should be introduced “performing works in leading theaters.”
Ukrainian cultural venues, he said, have found options for substitution at the expense of works by Ukrainian and European composers.
Tkachenko had previously been disappointed by that. that the staff of the National Tchaikovsky Academy of Music refused to remove the name of the Russian composer from the name of the conservatory.
Russian President Vladimir Putin has previously spoken out on the topic of “abolishing” Russian culture, stressing that those who act in this way are depriving themselves of part of world culture.
